About this listen

Under the bubbling hot springs and geysers in Yellowstone National Park lies a supervolcano so large that it can be seen only from a plane or satellite. Most people don't know it's there. But it's overdue for an eruption, which would obliterate the landscape and change the climate, creating a dark, volcanic winter that could last for years.

For Alex, being left home alone for the weekend means the freedom to play his computer games and hang out with his friends without hassle from his mother. Then the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, plunging his hometown into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence. Alex begins a harrowing trek to search for his family and finds help in Darla, a travel partner he meets along the way. Together they must find the strength and skills to survive and outlast an epic disaster.

I have enjoyed this book very much.
I throughly enjoyed it and will be read the next few in the series. The author has done an excellent job and I thank him.

Great book

I loved the subject of the story, and the main characters Alex and Darla draw you into the book and the post apocalyptic world the author is creating. Their struggle to survive after the Yellowstone Supervolcano and long voyage to find missing family and eventual safety, and their developing young love story made for a great read. And this was left open for a series of future books I would also like to read.

A scary potential future for the US

I read this book when I was a teenager, and recently remembered it. I rarely have time to sit down and read anymore, so I figured I'd give the audiobook a listen. The book was just as great as I remember- and the recording is amazing! 10/10

This is my all time favorite series. I read them as a freshman in high school, and told everyone I knew about them. I decided to come back and read (listen) them again, and it’s just as good as I remembered. Cannot wait to start book 2!

Amazing

Great idea for a novel and great plot! I liked the second half better than the first—the taekwondo bit got annoying. It got better as it went along and I was really into it by the end!
The narration wasn’t great, and I was super disappointed to turn on the next book and find the narration (even though it’s the same narrator, the author, is the same) quality, both in narration and quality of the sound, dropped tremendously. I heard they just get better, so I’m trying to push through.
This book has the best quality narration for sure, and I do recommend it!
