About this listen

Selected as one of Audible's best audiobooks of 2021

Jason wakes up in a mysterious world of magic and monsters.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil.

He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

After cementing itself as one of the best-rated serial novels on Royal Road with an astonishing 13 million views, He Who Fights with Monsters is now brought to you in professionally formatted audio.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Immersive World-building • Witty Dialogue • Exceptional Character Voices • Creative Magic System • Excellent Comedic Timing

I enjoyed this audio book. litrpg are my favorite genre. that being said I enjoyed about half to three quarters of the book before getting board. the story started to be more about other characters then the main and most of it was political talk. involving bureaucratic rich people and how he's playing a mind game with them. by the end of the book I had almost forgot what the main character name was because it's was just talking between other one. it's like the author changed his mind halfway through and to stop making the RPG book and just went to a straight fantasy political Mass war kind of book I will not be coming back to the second one.

long easy listening

Absolutely love this story, setting and characters. The magic system is amazing and the potential I see in this series excites me. Anti climatic ending and a little disappointing but the book is so good that I will wait semi patiently for the second. Heath Miller does a splendid job bringing the characters to life and is enjoyable to listen to.

Really great story

So far my favorite book series. From someone with hundreds of books on audible with 3 months of total listening time, it says alot. Author does a great job with character development. The MC is very easy to like and quite funny at times. I really hope this series spans over 20+ books because I will for sure buy them all. Already listening to book #4 and preordered book #5

Best series out right now

When I read that the main guy was going to be an Aussie I had some serious doubts. but the performance giving was simply fantastic. Wish it had not taken me so long to get into this book series. On the plus side however, I have plenty of books to go through now. So thanks for that...I'm going to have to buy so many extra credits now.

Had my doubts, but they are WELL gone now!

I kept skipping the parts where it focused on Sophie. I was basically extremely uninterested it whenever it tried to focus on Sophie because it just wasn't entertaining and had too much angsty drama. Also the viewpoint of the entire book was pretty confusing because it continuedly kept switching from 1st person to 3rd person and back constantly

It was wonderful....except for the narrative.

Cool story. T took some time to get going, but once it did, it was good. More action adventure then boring RPG. Could have done without the slipped in this person, or that person might be, or is gay. Guess everyone has to make things a bit political.
All in all a good book.
